| Yesterday
afternoon a female patient had to be picked up from the 2nd Dalweg,
in the so-called Peat and Buckwheat lands, between Bellingwolde and
Veelerveen, for a check up in the hospital of Winschoten. The 2nd
Dalweg (a dirt road) and the narrow cycle path next to it were flooded.
The ambulance could not get further than the beginning of the lane.
To get the woman they had to carry the stretcher on foot through the
water, that in some spots came to the rim of the boots. With assistance
of neighbours the woman was carried from the house to the ambulance,
which took 15 minutes. Yesterday evening she was returned home in
the same fashion. |
